Black History Month

BlackHistoryMonth2013Every February, we celebrate Black History Month. It started in 1926 by Dr. Carter G. Woodson as Negro History week. In 1976, it became Black History month. We now have second term President Barack Obama, our first African American president; Eric Holder, our first African American U.S. Attorney General; and Rep. James Clyburn (D. SC) our third highest ranking Congressional Democrat. We all learn from our history. Winning the future depends on understanding our past. African Americans are the citizens whose labor, blood, sweat, tears and deaths that has helped make America a great country.


Yeah… Maybe sex sells, and the buyer gets screwed. On the other hand, there is a growing trend toward Celibacy.  More and more people are choosing to experiment with celibacy for a period of time. Many say that their health, their energy level, and their spiritual life improve as a result of living a celibate life. Lust can only exist in the absence of Love. Bring in Love and lust disappears.

Good for you Shaq

Shaunie O’Neal lost home court advantage when ex-husband Shaquille O’Neal won a judgment to prevent her from featuring their children in a new reality show. Shaunie tried to convince Shaq that her new show would be devoid of the ratchetry of her other “Basketball Wives” reality properties, but rather wholesome family fun. But Shaq was unconvinced. Shaq believes that the show would prove to be a distraction for their four children, as some of them are already struggling academically. Shaunie’s new reality show is set to shoot in January.

“I’m not the person the media portrays me to be,” DMX says. “X is the bad guy. That’s not who I am. I’m not that person you see on TV.” Earlier this year, DMX turned to Dr. Phil. DMX has opened up about his personal struggles. During the interview, he revealed that he suffers from bipolar disorder, which causes severe mood swings between mania and depression. The troubled star also discussed his battle to beat drug addiction and his history with dog fighting. “I used to be really clear on who was what and what characteristics each personality had. But I don’t know at this point. I’m not even sure there is a difference,” he continued. “I’m Earl when I’m with my children. I miss my children, I miss my children, I miss my children.”DMX, whose struggles with substance abuse have been documented for a long time, says that he’s trying to get clean and is taking it one day at a time. “Every day, I start my day off with a prayer to guide my steps. Cover me and keep me safe. Every album, there’s a gospel song and a prayer. Every album, from the beginning.” DMX is currently working on an upcoming album Redemption of the Beast that he hopes to release by the end of the year. As for getting his career back on track, he’s not worried about obstacles. “There will never be another me, never,” he said. “To this day, I have records that have yet to be broken.”

Michael Jordan and Earvin “Magic” Johnson have developed a new bond because of their gay children. Jordan recently asked Magic for advice on how to deal with his daughter, 20-year-old Jasmine, who publicly announced that she’s dating a woman earlier this month. Jordan turned to Magic because admired the way his longtime friend handled his 21-year-old son EJ, whole also came out earlier this year. “Michael and (his ex-wife) Juanita are both at a loss, and they’re con­cerned about how this will affect Jasmine’s future,” Jordan’s only daughter debuted her relationship with girlfriend Carmen Tyson-Thom­as on her Instagram account. “This little closet is holding me back,” the junior at Syracuse University wrote as a caption. On another picture she noted, “Until Love, Trust, Honesty, Respect, Loyalty, Commitment, Genuine Happiness and other characteristics or aspects I want in a relationship is defined by one gender then and only then will I discuss my sexual preference.”
